Matt Brett » Envato Marketplace Buttons for Authors

“Yesterday afternoon I ticked off a to-do item that’s been lingering for quite some time – “Create some buttons to promote feeds and following on ThemeForest.“  Many of the top authors on ThemeForest, and other Envato Marketplaces for that matter, have a set of buttons on their profiles and all of their items – see crazy popular items from Kresi and epicera.  The purpose of these buttons is to encourage people to stay on top of the authors’ releases, and even connect with them elsewhere.  One thing I noticed, was that everyone had their own set of buttons.  So I set out on a search in hopes of finding a PSD that someone has shared for creating similar buttons.  When nothing turned up, I figured I would take this opportunity to not only hook myself up with a nice set of buttons for my marketplace items, but to share my buttons so other authors can quickly and easily add some buttons of their own.”

Our free file of the month is High Poly Combat Knife by HollowIchigo.
“This is a high poly model of a combat knife. The file includes 2010 max file but also 3ds format so it can be opened with ealier versions, and by googe sketch up. The low poly model is subdivided to make the smooth version, so very little work will be needed to get the low poly version done.”
Download it while you can!

Luxology Announces Free modo Training from Pixel Corps

I’m always looking for new podcasts. This one looks promising:

“Luxology® LLC announced a free bi-weekly podcast on the company’s 3D modeling and rendering software modo®. Created by Pixel Corps, a worldwide guild of content creators, each podcast will be hosted by Pixel Corps founder and Chief Architect, Alex Lindsay, with Pixel Corps digital effects artist McKay Hawkes as the show’s first guest.

“Beginning today [25 January], the first podcast will focus on realistic rendering and examining the integration of CAD files in modo. Future podcasts will explore additional features within modo and how the software fits into larger visual effects pipelines in a variety of industries. While Pixel Corps has always centered heavily on training and education, this will mark a new initiative to provide software training to the public for free. For more information or to download the complimentary podcast, please visit http://www.pixelcorps.tv/modoshop.”
